Java Programmer
Associated Software Consultants, Inc. (ASC) is a developer and marketer of software solutions and services for the residential, consumer and commercial lending industry.
Our PowerLender® Loan Origination System (LOS) automates the process of making mortgage, home equity, consumer and commercial loans. PowerLender is a large Java Swing desktop application and is remotely hosted on SoftLayer (IBM) Linux servers administered by us. Clients access PowerLender using only an HTML5 browser.
Your primary role as a Java Programmer would be to enhance PowerLender’s Java code base. Development opportunities abound as we continually modernize PowerLender to meet market challenges. PowerLender integrates with nearly 80 different third-party service providers, so we do a lot of programming requiring the use of (increasingly) JSON/REST APIs and (decreasingly) XML/SOAP APIs. We use both NetBeans and Eclipse IDEs, and a Subversion repository.
Other than Java, necessary development skills include RDBMS (MSSQL, MariaDB) and JDBC programming. Very helpful technical skills include PHP programming, as ASC supports an additional application written in PHP. We also look for developers with independent decision-making capability and proactive problem-solving skills and reasonably good verbal and written communication skills. Prior Java programming experience is a very big plus but we would consider an entry-level applicant with strong motivation and a solid technical aptitude and skill set. An understanding of the lending process is an extra plus, though not by any means mandatory.
